Marina Del Giudice

Biografia

Marina Del Giudice was born on 04th April 1968 in Napoli.

She has breathed essences and colors of oil painting in her father’s office since she was child. At the same

time, during those years, she was very attracted to theatrical comedies by Eduardo De Filippo and

Pirandello, and she was also fascinated by Petrolini, Charlot and Ridolini’s perky demonstrations

transmitted on tv which were also sad sometimes.

She attended Artistic High School and got her diploma in Scenic design at ‘Accademia di Belle Arti’ in 1989.

She immediately started to work as scenographer realizing programs for tv and theatres in Napoli and all

around Italy.

Simultaneously, she worked as Interior Designer and as teacher.

Nowadays, during her labs, she tries to transmit her passion for art, theatre and music to her students.

Recensione Critica

Marina del Giudice is the Artist of the 'Happening

Happening is the term coined by the American artist Allan Kaprow  around 1950, indicating the 'event that combines elements of painting, poetry, music, dance and theater, and is staged as a live action

Marina is a masterful painter of theatrical figurative composition, of  fantasy and of rarefied  female figures.

The inspiration for his art comes from everything she sees and touches in the history of the theater

Her creations can be highly symbolic with hidden clues to help to decipher the images of simple sumptuousness of subjects with universal appeal.

They can be viewed in the same way for their vibrant colors that fill the canvas and  THE contrast with warm reds that make the paintings  full of attractiveness dances of light.

Marina gives life to every work inviting the viewer into the painting as a world apart, full of energy and color.

In many cases, a work of visual art has pushed the artist to write the story behind the scene. But the paintings caught in the dramas are more than just sources of inspiration: they took part in the formation of a medium that takes visions  and transform them  into emotions.

As creator of icons, Marina doesn’t start only from a "photographic likeness", but associates them  with "the theater of the realistic conventions" a kind of "language of vision"

The analysis of her works through the lens of painting aims at highlighting the role played by her plastic language, a language that seems to have evolved along the same lines of those that have led the pictorial arts  to the mimetic representation.

SHE paints a world bound by real and metaphorical shadows. The light is used as a counterpoint to the prevailing darkness, but IT is poor, a precious asset that must be used sparingly becoming an analogy of life, distinct from the other lights, and a particular pristine clarity.

Marina wishes to give an almost sacred dimension to her  female character, a dimension that transcends its reality in flesh and blood, elevating it to an idealized symbol, to a nostalgic vision that prevents any hasty conclusion to the narrator
